Tapestry

Since September 2016, Smartees Day Care Nursery have been using a new online learning journal. We have been using a piece of educational software called ‘Tapestry’ to record every child’s learning and development. As a parent or carer, you will be given a secure username and password which will allow you to log on to your child’s profile and view their observations and photographs at a time that suits you. Parents will only be able to see their own child’s journal and all of the information is stored on a highly secured server.

Tapestry is a secure online learning journal to record photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us. This system allows us to work with parents and carers to share information and record the children’s play and learning in and outside of the classroom.

You will receive an email alert each time a photo or observation is added to your child’s journal.

Tapestry allows you, as your child’s first educator, to add your own observations and comments which allows staff to see what activities your child has enjoyed and what they have been up to at home.

As well as creating an online journal for your child we will also continue to complete a folder that contains pieces of their work and any other paperwork relating to their learning and development. These folders will be available to view at any time, just ask a member of staff.
